Margot, Jackie's cousin was visiting from Panama. We caught up to them at Niagara Falls.

Rustic Russnells

Went to Oshawa on the GO train to pick up our Lease Busters vehicle. (was that our first time on that train- reminded me of our trip into London last summer)
Went to visit Margaret and Dave at their new home outside of Oshawa. Great country location. Quiet, peaceful, serene. Went for a Sabbath afternoon walk. Someone got a "soaker." But it was great to enjoy the scenery, fresh air and snow. Thanks for the loan of your boots, Dave.

Japanese Food Shopping

Took Grandma to the Grace Food Store- Korean, Japanese and Chinese Grocery.
Bought sushi rice, nori (seaweed) for maki-sushi, "brown bags" for age-sushi, (pronounced ah-geh-not sure if my pronunciation symbolization is correct), soybeans (eda-mame), chow mein noodles for Grandma's famous chow mein, some tofu, some u-don noodles, and some red bean cake for dessert.

Pea Soup and Pumpkin(Squash) Bread

This Sunday was a bitterly cold day. Last week we cooked up one of our giant butternut squash that had gotten frozen in the garage. We took some to church potluck, but there were still a lot left. How about a pumpkin bread? So we found a recipe for pumpkin corn bread. All out of corn meal. Hop in the car for some corn meal.

The Corn bread turned out to be pretty good. A bit dry. But tasty. Now sweet - more savoury if any thing. Unfortunately, one recipe only used a cup of squash.

Then we(she) also used some peas that were in the freezer- labeled "Peas for Pea Soup." I guess there was no choice but to make pea soup.
So we had pea soup with squash bread for supper.

Greg makes Sushi

Greg came to the potluck today. He brought the fixings to make maki (rolled) sushi. Seaweed, rice and filling. He brought lettuce, avocado and cucumber for the inside.
Simple and delicious. And, green.

Merry Christmas

We were at Grandview Adventist Academy for their Christmas program. It was hard for me to get the gumption to get up and get close enough to take photos of the singing and acting.

It was much easier to take a few photos of the artwork posted on the back of the gymnasium wall.

The children did a great job of catching the essence of Christmas.
