Waimea Canyon is a spectacular canyon cut into the lava by 3 rivers. The views of the reddish lava remind one of the Kauai’s version of the Grand Canyon.
In the Koke’e State Park we came upon the 19th Annual Festival honoring Queen Emma’s hike in 1871 into Kauai’s beautiful mountains with an entourage of her friends. There was a horseback re-enactment followed by a number of presentations hula dancers who chant as a gift to the queen.
